A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead
The Army-Navy football game has ended the same way for the last 14 years – with Navy winning. But suddenly Army is on the move and even bound for a bowl game. So there could be some drama when these two get together Saturday in Baltimore.
That just might be the highlight of our Weekend TV Six-pack. These players are future military officers and leaders, not products of football factories. Their days of playing this game grow short, though going to a bowl is a nice treat. Army hasn’t had a winning season since 1996 but is 6-5. Navy is 9-3.
“It feels good being able to go to a bowl game, but definitely not thinking about that right now,” Army senior linebacker Jeremy Timpf said.
Check it out at 3 p.m. ET on CBS.
While your heiner is in the recliner, you might want to warm up with some college hoops. No. 23 Notre Dame pays a call on No. 1 Villanova. CBS has that at noon. Later in the evening, No. 2 UCLA, which beat Kentucky last week, is at home against Michigan. ESPN2 will show it at 8 p.m.
Got a few good ones for you NFC East fans. As always, check your local listings, but FOX will show the Washington Redskins-Philadelphia Eagles game at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Redskins have lost their last two, the Eagles their last three, and someone could fall out of the playoff race. Especially if the New York Giants, the only team to beat the Dallas Cowboys, do it again on Sunday night (NBC, 8:30 p.m.)
Sandwiched between those divisional gems is a growing rivalry game. The Seattle Seahawks play the Green Bay Packers on FOX at 4:25 p.m.
That’s the six-pack. Consume cautiously. Remember, you’re a role model.
