Are All The Irish Drunks?

**For the purpose of this article we are going to play a little drinking game, sorry if you are at work. Every time you read or hear Irish, drunk, beer, or pub – take a drink. Enjoy! **

You’ve heard it time and time again – and maybe have seen it time and time again at your local bar, but there is a stereotype in this world that all Irish people are always drunk. Comedian Mike Epps took to the streets and more appropriately took to the pubs to find out the answer once and for all – where did this stereotype come from?

Let’s start with some hard facts and statistics that say out of all the heavy drinkers in the world, 54% are Irish while only 25% are American.

So based off of that alone you would assume that the Irish like their beer way more than the Americans, but how did this come about? According to the Irish themselves, drinking is a part of their culture.

Take to the streets of Dublin and you’ll find everyone’s social life happening in the pub over a pint. The Irish see gathering for a beer as a celebration and what better to celebrate than life itself.

Historically speaking, the Irish have been known for having their fair share of hard times so I too would get a little drunk every now and then if I had to deal with the class system or famines.

But let’s be real for a moment – while in some cultures getting drunk in public is a major disgrace, for the most part it is not completely the Irish who are known for getting their drink on. In today’s society, drinking is as much a part of the culture as ever.

The pubs are where friends gather to talk about life and celebrate all of its big moments. While it would take a strong liver to be in the pub 24/7, there is no denying that most of us enjoy a casual drink with friends – so let’s not blame this one 100% on the Irish.

Alright now let’s hit the Irish pub and get drunk on loads of beautiful beer. Cheers!
