A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead
The Olympic Games in Rio come to an end on Sunday night, but not before the United States can pick up a couple of gold medals in basketball (uh-oh, a little overconfident here).
Your heiner and your recliner will rarely part company this weekend. Have meals delivered at regular intervals and enjoy your Weekend TV Six-Pack.
We start off on Friday afternoon with the U.S. men’s basketball team playing Spain at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. The winner meets the winner of Australia-Serbia, which is at 6 p.m. on CNBC. The gold medal game is Sunday at 2:15 p.m. on NBC. The U.S. has won 23 consecutive Olympic basketball games and has already beaten Australia in this tournament.
The women’s gold medal basketball game is Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on NBC. Look for that powerhouse U.S. team to prevail over Spain.
The last of the Olympics is the closing ceremony on Sunday night at 8 p.m. on NBC. Pageantry, spectacle, you know the drill. Wouldn’t it be fun if all of the teams marched backward out of the stadium?
If you desperately need a little preseason football, CBS shows the Miami Dolphins vs. the Dallas Cowboys on Friday night at 8 p.m. The Dolphins need to get their offense going and the Cowboys have defensive issues. A perfect match.
We’ll throw in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night as an added attraction. NBC Sports Network provides coverage at 8 p.m. Only four races remain in the regular season and Tony Stewart has not yet clinched a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. He needs a few big finishes to qualify in what is his final year of competition before retirement.
As always, watch responsibly. You are a role model.
