A Sports filled Weekend Ahead
The PGA Championship at Baltusrol in Springfield, N.J., had as its first-round leader Jimmy Walker, who didn’t make the cut at the British Open. Nice rebound there. How will he fare over Friday’s round? Will he make the cut and be part of the weekend action?
We don’t know the future. We just recommend you watch and find out. So, for your Weekend TV Six-Pack, let’s start with the PGA Championship.
You can take in the third round on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. ET on TNT. Coverage moves to CBS at 3 p.m. Same deal on Sunday, with those two stations and times.
NASCAR’s Sprint Cup race at Long Pond, Pa., is there for your viewing pleasure at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday on NBC Sports. Jeff Gordon will again be driving in place of Dale Earnhardt Jr. (concussion-like symptoms).
Two really good horse races might capture your imagination as well. Saturday’s Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga matches the top two finishers in this year’s Belmont Stakes – Creator and Destin. That’s at 4 p.m. on Fox Sports 2. The Haskell Invitational on Sunday at Monmouth in Oceanport, N.J. rematches Nyquist, the Kentucky Derby winner, and Exaggerator, who beat him in the Preakness Stakes. That’s the only race in nine starts Nyquist hasn’t won. Tune in at 5 p.m. on NBC.
It wouldn’t be a weekend without football but you can’t watch NFL training camps on TV. So you may have to settle for Sunday night’s festive engagement between the Toronto Argonauts and Ottowa Redblacks at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2. Ottowa is the CFL’s highest-scoring team.
Now, time for the checklist. Heiner? You’ve got one. Recliner? You’ve got one. Place the former in the latter and prepare yourself for a weekend of simulated exhilaration.
As always, watch responsibly.
