Now it gets serious in the NFL
Twelve teams remain in contention for the Super Bowl. Eight are in action on two days of doubleheaders. You will plant your heiner in the recliner and remain immobile for most of Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday brings us the Buffalo Bills (10-6) against the Houston Texans (10-6) at 4:35 p.m. ET on ESPN. Buffalo ranked second overall in total defense and second in scoring defense; Houston’s offense revolves around quarterback Deshaun Watson, receiver Andre Hopkins and running back Carlos Hyde.
The second game matches the Tennessee Titans (9-7) with the New England Patriots (12-4). This one’s on CBS at 8:15 p.m. The Pats squandered a first-round bye by losing at home in Week 17 to the Miami Dolphins.
Sunday features the Minnesota Vikings (10-6) at the New Orleans Saints (13-3) at 1:05 p.m. on Fox. The Vikings amassed 48 sacks and 31 takeaways; the Saints tied for third in the NFL in points scored.
At 4:40 p.m., the Seattle Seahawks (11-5) take on the Philadelphia Eagles (9-7). NBC shows this one. The Eagles are among the NFL’s hottest teams, riding a four-game winning streak that gave them the NFC East title.
Need a little roundball? No. 18 Florida State and No. 7 Louisville elbow each other under the basket on Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN2 in an ACC clash. No. 12 Michigan and No. 14 Michigan State get after each other on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. on CBS in a Big Ten game.
Plenty to watch. Enjoy.
