A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead
Baseball returns from its All-Star hiatus, so we’ll get the Weekend TV Six-Pack started with the matchup everyone is sick of – the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.
These old rivals meet at Yankee Stadium on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET on MLB. What better way to start the weekend than to watch Yankees manager Joe Girardi use eight pitchers and slow the game to a 4-hour crawl?

That said, we must run down the usual checklist. Heiner? Recliner? Plunk the former into the latter and unwind…
Like heavyweight boxing? Go ahead and name one champion. Well, there is one named Deontay Wilder and he’s fighting Chris Arreola on Saturday night at 8 p.m. on Fox, defending his WBC title. Wilder is 6-foot-7 and 36-0 with 35 knockouts. You might not have to dedicate the entire evening to this one.
If you like to get up early on Saturday morning, set the alarm. There’s the Tour de France at 8 a.m. on NBC Sports Network, and who does not enjoy watching the peloton over coffee (other than me)? The third round of the British Open is on NBC at 7 a.m. for the truly sleepless. The final round is Sunday at 7 a.m., also on NBC.

NASCAR’s act moves to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the New Hampshire 301. Dale Earnhardt Jr., suffering from concussion-like symptoms, won’t race. This is on NBC Sports Network on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Round out your Sunday with…the Red Sox and Yankees. They conclude their series at 8 p.m. on ESPN. Give ESPN credit. It manages to show Red Sox-Yankees on six of every four Sunday nights.
Fresh batteries for the remote are probably in order. Watch responsibly.
