Golf: Ted Potter Jr., not exactly a household name, chipped in for birdie on the par-3 seventh hole to take a two-shot lead over No. 1 Dustin Johnson, and earned a three-stroke victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He shot a 3-under 69 in Sunday’s final round to defeat Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Jason Day and Chez Reavie by three strokes.
NFL: The Indianapolis Colts, whose coaching job was surprisingly spurned last week by the New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, hired Frank Reich on Sunday. Reich, 56, was the the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator last season. West Virginia, once No. 2 in the AP poll and now No. 19 (at least until rankings are released on Monday), lost 88-85 at home on Saturday to Oklahoma State. Baylor beat No. 10 Kansas 80-64. No. 12 Gonzaga beat No. 11 St. Mary’s 78-65. Alabama beat No. 15 Tennessee 78-50. Iowa State smacked No. 17 Oklahoma 88-80. Texas A&M dropped No. 24 Kentucky 85-74.
