Catching Up On All The Games You May Have Missed Over The Weekend

The Boston Celtics continued their roll through the NBA playoffs, opening the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday with a 112-90 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, the overall No. 1 seed.
Kyrie Irving scored 26 points and had 11 assists, while Al Horford added 20 points. The Celtics are now 5-0 in the postseason.

In Game 1 in the Western Conference semis, Steph Curry buried a 3-pointer with 24.4 seconds left and then added a free throw on a technical foul against Chris Paul and the Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 104-100. Kevin Durant scored 35 for the Warriors, matching James Harden’s total for the Rockets.

On Saturday, the Denver Nuggets eliminated the San Antonio Spurs, winning Game 7 by a 90-86 count.

MLB:
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Albert Pujols moved into third place on the all-time RBI list on Sunday when he drove home the 1,997th run of his 19-year career. He trails only Hank Aaron (2,297) and Alex Rodriguez (21,086).

The Washington Nationals’ Carter Kieboom, Juan Soto and Victor Robles became the first known 21-or-younger threesome to homer in a game. Chicago White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez struck out 14 to tie this season’s MLB high in a 4-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. The Washington Nationals erased a 6-0 deficit and beat the San Diego Padres 7-6 in 11 innings on Matt Adams’ walk-off home run, ending a three-game losing streak.

NHL:
The Carolina Hurricanes scored twice early in the third period Sunday to notch a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders and take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven series. Both wins came on the road. The Colorado Avalanche evened their series with the San Jose Sharks at a game apiece with a 4-3 win.

Elsewhere:
Chase Elliott won NASCAR’s GEICO 500 at Talladega, leading for 44 of the 188 laps.

Jon Rahm and Ryan Palmer won the Zurich Classic, the PGA Tour’s only team event.

The NFL said 47.5 viewers took in the draft over its three days (ending Saturday) and that some 600,000 attended it in Nashville, Tennessee.
