Time To Upgrade
Congressional investigators say the government is wasting a large chunk of the technology budget to keeping ancient computers running! Non-partisan Congressional investigators say that keeping these old computers running is eating up about 75% of the technology budget.
Some platforms are more than 50 years old and one agency even still uses floppy disks…yes, you read that right. The White House has been pushing to replace the older systems, but the budget for modernization fails to gain approval and the budget will be $7 billion less in 2017 than it was in 2010. The bottom line- it sounds like a BIG waste of money!
