Dallas devastated after tornado
Dallas, Texas has been met with widespread damage Monday morning after severe weather moved through the area the evening before. A tornado touched down in the North Texas area, causing major damage to homes, business parks and other areas of the city. Areas most affected by the storm were Richardson and Midlothian, Texas.
It was later confirmed by the National Weather Service that an EF-3 tornado hit Dallas, an EF-1 hit Rowlett and an EF-0 hit Wills Point.
According to local news reports, at least six people were taken to the hospital, but thankfully, no deaths or major injuries have been reported. Multiple reports of damage along Interstate-635 and many homes and businesses were severely damaged or destroyed as a result of the storm.
A little past 9 p.m. on Sunday, people in Dallas County were warned to take shelter immediately because a tornado was moving across the city. A few hours later, another line of storms moved through the Dallas area, affecting those that were already hit the first time.
“I think we should consider ourselves very fortunate that we did not lose any lives — no fatalities and no serious injuries — in last night’s storms,” Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said.
