The three will play in a featured group in the first two rounds.
Since recovering from a severe car accident in February of 2021, Tiger Woods has been gradually making his return to the professional golf scene. He played at the Masters in April, though he noted that uphill holes were substantially more difficult for him due to his injuries.

“That’s the steepest golf course you’re going to play and that was the first one you climbed — and climbed it,” Woods said at a recent news conference. “It’s going to get flatter and better.”
Despite his difficulties, he’s still resolved to continue playing, and that includes his upcoming appearance at the PGA Championship this week. For the first two rounds of the event, slated to tee off this Thursday and Friday, Woods will be playing in a featured group alongside Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth.

“Six weeks is a long enough time to recover from that week and then build yourself back up again,” McIlroy said of Woods. “He certainly hasn’t chosen two of the easiest walks in golf to come back to, Augusta and here. But no, he’s stubborn, he’s determined. This is what he lives for. He lives for these major championships, and if he believes he can get around 18 holes, he believes he can win.”
