ESPN And Snapchat Come Together
NBC and CNN have already joined with Snapchat, and ESPN is getting in on the party.
After a very poor fiscal fourth quarter performance, ESPN is looking for more. The sports network is releasing its own short-form version of of a daily “SportsCenter” program that will run twice a day, at 5 AM and 5 PM. Snapchat appears to be attempting to get an older crowd, rather than just appealing to teens and young adults.
According to TechCrunch, ” SportsCenter’s viewer demographic, however, has traditionally been more extensive – popular with those in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, too. That means the show could appeal to a slightly older crowd than Snapchat-using high schoolers – perhaps older millennials, for example.”
The show will be short, of course to accommodate the shorter stories that make up Snapchat. They will be around 3-5 minutes in length, and the talent used for the short shows will be rotating. You will more than likely see a wide range of anchors and broadcasters, including Emmy-Winning sports personality Katie Nolan.
