Every year, it has been Forbes’ tradition to go through the earnings of America’s billionaires to see who among them gets the privilege to be included in the business magazine’s elite list – the Forbes 400.
This year, 20 billionaires under 45 made it to the cut. To be included in the list is good but to have years and years ahead to spend all that money…well, that’s a more favorable advantage others in the list do not have. To say these 20 very young billionaires are lucky is an understatement.
Dustin Moskovitz
This Facebook co-founder is the youngest in the group at only 29 years old. He had that title when he first entered the list in 2010. Due to his 5% share in the pervasive social network, he now has $5.3 billion to his name.
Mark Zuckerberg
8 days older than his partner, Moskovitz, the Facebook CEO is also three times richer. This year, he has a net worth of $19 billion, bigger than the previous year’s $9.4 billion. Thanks to this social media which seems to be everywhere these days, Zuckerberg is America’s 20th wealthiest individual.
Sean Parker
Parker is another tech-savvy billionaire – after all, he is from Silicon Valley. The former Facebook-CEO-now-Napster-cofounder who is 33 years old has a net worth of $2 billion.
Jack Dorsey
Twitter cofounder, one of Silicon Valley’s youngest executives and Square CEO, the eclectic Dorsey is 36 years old with $1.3 billion in his bank account.
Nick Woodman
Woodman, the founder of fast-growing camera company GoPro, gets in the Forbes list with $1.3 billion in assets. He is 38 years old.
Robert Pera
It’s Robert Pera’s first time in the Forbes list this year. The 35-year-old wireless entrepreneur makes it to the cut with $1.95 billion worth of net income, all due to his Ubiquiti Networks.
Sergey Bin and Larry Page
These two built an empire known as Google and with the combined net worth a little less than $50 billion, they do not just make it to the list, but they qualify to be in the top three – next to Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. Both are in their 40s.
Elon Musk
The TESLA CEO gets in the list as one of the youngest and the wealthiest billionaires. By percentage, he is this year’s second greatest gainer with his net worth jumping to $6.7 billion this year compared to last year’s $2.4 billion.
Kevin Plank
Who says traditional does not go together with being rich? The 41-year-old Under Armour founder and CEO proved one doesn’t have to be a tech connoisseur to make it to Forbes list of America’s wealthiest. His net worth is $1.7 billion.
Chase Coleman, John Arnold, Ken Griffin and David Einhorn
What do these under-45-years billionaires have in common? Well, they just hit it big through being hedge fund whizzes. Coleman has gained $1.4 billion through it, Arnold a whopping $2.8 billion, Einhorn with $1.4 billion and Griffin $4.4 billion. John Arnold had even announced his retirement last year so he could focus on other interests like philanthropic causes. That is so very rare for someone who is still a year short of being 40 but he has the means so he could do it.
Milane Frantz
Miss Frantz, heir to Dan Duncan’s energy pipeline fortune, is the only woman in the list of top 20 wealthiest under 45. She is 44 with a net worth of $5.5 billion.
