This Penguin Shows Promise
A pair of parental penguins just cracked their baby open early and sent the world into a Twistity tizzy. At a zoo in London, these two penguins accidentally cracked open their baby’s eggshell early, causing a premature birth. While the eggshell wasn’t ready to hatch, the zookeepers were certainly prepared to take care of it. They rushed to little Rainbow (yes, that’s what they named him that) and used tweezers to help free him from his cracked cage.
Worried the little guy wouldn’t survive, the handlers took Rainbow to an incubation room to protect him from the outside world. Because he can’t be around any of his peers, or his parents, he’s currently being protected by a cuddly plush penguin in order to make him feel more comfortable. He still has to be hand fed in isolation (receiving the best care) and is expected to rejoin his brethren in the penguin sanctuary as soon as he has grown to adolescent size. Rainbow will also be learning how to swim once he rejoins the rest of the penguins.
Rainbow has taken the world by heart, as the zookeepers originally thought the shattered shell would be empty. However, when his tiny little heart was still beating, everyone across the globe watched in awe as they brought this baby back on his feet. We don’t even have to put a positive spin on this news story, as it’s already heart-warming enough.
