The UFC Legend Signs New Contract
On Monday, Ronda Rousey signed a deal with the WWE, ESPN reported. Rousey’s appearance at WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view even in Philadelphia Sunday night, and now we know why. The legend herself is making a transition from her UFC career to a more theatrical stage in professional wrestling.
Many credit Ronda for her ability to bring women’s MMA to the mainstream market, and she sure did that. Rousey was UFC’s first ever woman’s bantamweight champion and with that became a recognizable pop culture star. With one heck of a professional career under her belt, there’s really nothing she cannot do. Rousey has also dabbled in acting, making an appearance in the “Fast and Furious” franchise as well as “Entourage,” and even had the chance to host “Saturday Night Live.” What can’t this woman do?
Rousey didn’t appear to be the same after her last two fights of her mixed martial arts career, both of which were losses. Her first loss came to Holly Holm in 2015, and that loss stunned the world. Up until that point, it seemed she was invincible. It took her a while to make her way back to the MMA stage, and with that came her second loss to Amanda Nunes the following year. Perhaps the best part in all of this is the monicker that Rousey will be allegedly going by: Rowdy Ronda Rousey, being credited to her friendship with the WWE legend Roddy Rowdy Piper.
