Pop Star Reveals Downside Of Touring
Ariana Grande has been through a lot in the past two years. In May 2017, she lived through a terrorist bombing outside her concert in Manchester, England. Last September, her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, died from a drug overdose. The 25-year-old singer says she’s re-living emotional trauma through her songs, and it’s been “hell.”
“Making it is healing,” Grande said on Twitter. “Performing it is like reliving it all over again and it is hell.”
She wrote to her fans, “i just feel empty and i wanna have more to say / better energy to give to u and rn i don’t have anything. love u.”
Grande has talked publicly about her struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She has even shared brain scans on social media showing how her brain has changed from the mental illness, which often afflicts people who have survived traumatic events, like war or terrorist attacks.
Nonetheless, the future is looking bright for Grande, who headlined Coachella last week. *NSYNC, Mase and P. Diddy joined Grande on stage to perform beloved 90s hits, like “Mo Money Mo Problems.”
On April 11, Grande posted a video of herself on Twitter dancing to *NSYNC’s song, “Tearin’ Up My Heart.”
“the best medicine,” she wrote alongside a heart emoji. “90’s baby.”
