It has been Apple’s tradition to release a new iPhone model every year just like this year. However, unlike in preceding years, the company is set to introduce a series of models for the upcoming iPhone which is set to be introduced on September 10.
Welcome iPhone 5S
This year’s brand new iPhone style is dubbed iPhone 5S – a clear upgrade of last year’s release, the iPhone 5. The difference is, along with launching the forerunner model; the company is also planning to throw in two other models with it – one high-end version of this year’s iPhone and one low-end.
The Differences
The cheaper iPhone 5S model is dubbed iPhone 5C. Unlike the flagship model which features the usual black anodized aluminum typical to the smart phones, it is encased in plastic casing that comes in a variety of colors. It might also feature lower end parts since it does come at a cheaper price (how much the cheaper unit will cost is still unknown). On the other hand, rumors have it that the body of iPhone 5S’ higher-end version will be made up entirely of gold. Apple may have designed this phone, which presently is still without a name, with the 1980s sleazy drug mafia bosses in mind.
This new iPhone batch is reportedly fitted with a number of new technologies aside from upgraded processors which account for their faster speeds. Reportedly, the units will have a fingerprint scanner added by the Cupertino Company to the lone home button; an added security factor when unlocking and locking the phone.
It might also sport the capacity to use both front and back cameras synchronously. Many consumers whined over the low performance cameras the previous iPhone 5 has. Expectedly, the new models might feature clearer cameras. While others have speculated over Apple fitting the new units with 12 mega-pixel shutters, a more realistic expectation would be cameras with bigger f/2.0 aperture. That and the dual-led flash will make night pictures more pleasing to the beholder.
Why Launch Budget-Friendly Unit?
Many critics have questioned Apple’s decision in making a low-end version of the iPhone 5S model. After all, the more budget-friendly unit could undercut the flagship unit’s market which will affect its sales. However, Apple might just be doing the right thing as low-cost Android phones have flooded that same market these days. A cost-competitive unit will do the sales trick.
Besides, iPhone 5C is not really that low-cost; just enough to catch the eye of savvy yet budget-conscious consumers. Its price is said to be playing between the ranges of $399 to $499.
Not Just That
Essentially speaking, Apple is not just launching its new line of iPhones on September 10. According to sources, the company is also going to unveil iOS 7, its new mobile operating system. iOS 7 will the greatest change the software will have so far since it was used way back in 2007 for Apple’s first released iPhone and iPad.
Apple’s upcoming September 10 event will be focused more specifically on its new iPhones; tech watchers will have to wait for the last three months of this year for the launching of the new iPad and sensational iWatch.
