All the Swifties rejoice as Taylor Swift just released a new video for her song “You Need To Calm Down” and everyone is talking about it. From the big shout out to the LGBTQ community for Pride Month to the public makeup with Katy Perry, everyone is buzzing about the new video.

Swift’s new video features a lot of celebrity cameos including huge icons of the LGBTQ community and supporters of LGBTQ rights. In the usual fashion of Taylor Swift videos, there’s also a ton of Easter eggs you might have missed.

The Cast Of “Queer Eye”

The entire cast of “Queer Eye” sipped some tea with Taylor for their cameo featuring – Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Tan France, and Bobby Berk. These guys are better known as the glam squad, but also for their impact within the LGBTQ community.

During the video, Taylor checks what time it is on her wristwatch that actually features the face of her newest cat Benjamin Button. But this is the second cameo for her new cat as Benjamin was featured in her prior music video “ME!”

Adam Rippon

Adam Rippon is figure skater on the US Olympic team and won a bronze medal in the Olympic Winter Game PyeongChang 2018. They decided to have Rippon serve some serious moves on the ice as a sassy sno-cone server. Rippon supports Swift’s new video as he is a proud gay man and is an advocate for the LGBTQ community.

Swift pays homage to Cher with a quote from an interview she had in 1996 when she recalls her mother telling her growing up saying “One day you should settle down and marry a richman,” in which Cher responded, “Mom, I am a rich man.”

Billy Porter

Billy Porter is the star of the popular FX series about the drag and trans community “Pose,” dresses in drag for the new Swift video. In the video, Porter sashays in-front of a group of protesters against LGBTQ rights and shows that everyone should be free to be who they want to be. Porter supports the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS which is an organization that raises money for research funding through the American Theatre community.

In a scene where a group of protesters are in front of a group of sunbathers with a sign saying “Get A Brain Morans” the word morons is deliberately misspelled for a moment of ironic and moronic humor.

Celebrating gay marriage in the new music video is an actual couple, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita. You may recognize Ferguson (on the left) as the character Mitchell from the hit comedy series “Modern Family” and he plays a gay lawyer ironically as his husband is an actual lawyer. The couple also announced their official endorsement for The Equality Act that would add LGBTQ protections to existing civil rights laws.

The women in orange acting as minister for the wedding is none other than pop princess Ciara. Ciara is a supporter of the LGBTQ community through supporting anti-bullying and mental health causes.

One of the biggest cameos is Katy Perry, which is an interesting addition to the cast if you follow celebrity feuds. In the past, there was some ‘bad blood’ between the two pop artists and now they want to put that feud to rest. RuPaul made a name for himself in the drag community and in Hollywood, being one of the first people to bring drag into the homes of America through the hit competition show, “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” RuPaul is a frontier in the LGBTQ community, bringing awareness and acceptance for the drag community. RuPaul also partnered with MAC cosmetics to help raise money for AIDS awareness, raising over $400 million for the cause.

The Canadian comedy actor is better known as his Marvel superhero persona ‘Deadpool,’ Ryan Reynolds is a supporter of the LGBTQ community. “Deadpool 2” made LGBTQ history as the first major superhero movie featuring an LGBTQ relationship between two female characters, Teenage Negasonic Warhead and Yukio. Reynolds has also stated in the past that he supports same-sex marriage because he’s “not a monster.”
