Robert Pattinson shares his frustration with The Batman Part II delays, joking about aging into an “old Batman” before filming even starts.

Fans eagerly awaiting The Batman Part II aren’t the only ones feeling the frustration of its delays—Robert Pattinson himself is right there with us. The actor recently got real about the constant pushbacks, making it clear that he’s more than ready to don the cape again.

In a candid chat with his Mickey 17 co-star Naomi Ackie for Hero Magazine, Pattinson didn’t hold back. When asked if filming for the highly anticipated sequel would begin soon, his response was as blunt as it was relatable: “I f—ing hope so.”

The 38-year-old star even poked fun at the timeline, laughing, “I started out as young Batman, and I’m going to be f—ing old Batman by the sequel.” Ackie wasn’t buying the whole “old” thing, calling “bulls—” on his claim, but Pattinson doubled down. “I’m old, but I’m healthier,” he said. “I think I’ve actually brought my biological age down a bit.”

Warner Bros. originally set The Batman Part II for 2025, but the release date has been bumped multiple times, now landing in 2027. According to DC Studios co-head James Gunn, the reason is simple: the script isn’t finished. “Matt [Reeves] is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write,” Gunn explained on Threads. Once the script is locked, it will still take about two years for pre-production, filming, and post-production to wrap.

While fans may be restless, Gunn pointed out that long gaps between sequels aren’t unusual, citing the years between Alien and Aliens, The Incredibles, Terminator, and Avatar.

Despite the wait, Reeves has teased exciting developments for the sequel, hinting that Colin Farrell’s Penguin—who will also star in his own HBO series—will play a major role. “Oz does become one of the entry points into the movie,” he revealed to Entertainment Weekly. “I can’t tell you where it goes from there, except to say that we’re super excited about it.”

So while it may take a while to see Pattinson’s Dark Knight return to Gotham, at least we know he’s just as eager as the fans. And let’s be real—whether he’s young Batman or old Batman, we’ll be watching.
