Trump Continues To Go After Cummings
After weeks of feuding with Democratic Congresswomen known as “The Squad,” Trump’s new arch-nemesis is Rep. Elijah Cummings, a Democrat from Maryland who has been critical of Trump’s policies on the Southern border. On Sunday, Trump described Cummings’ district as “disgusting,” “rat-infested,” and “the worst in America.” Politicians on both sides of the aisle condemned Trump’s remarks–but as of Monday night, Trump was ramping up his criticism of Cummings.
“Elijah Cummings never even went to the Southern Border and then he screams at the very good people who, despite Congresses failure to fix the Loopholes and Asylum, make it work (crossings are way down and the Wall is being built). Even with zero Dem help, Border getting strong!” Trump tweeted. “Baltimore’s numbers are the worst in the United States on Crime and the Economy. Billions of dollars have been pumped in over the years, but to no avail. The money was stolen or wasted. Ask Elijah Cummings where it went. He should investigate himself with his Oversight Committee!”
Trump concluded his tweets by writing “Vote for Trump,” and asked Baltimore residents, “What do you have to lose?”
Cummings ignored the attacks on his official Twitter page. Instead, he’s been tweeting about Saudi Arabia, lowering prescription drug prices, and Robert Mueller’s testimony before Congress.
