NBA Star Penalized for Inappropriate Gesture During Victory Over Trail Blazers
Philadelphia 76ers’ star center, Joel Embiid, has been fined $35,000 (£28,800) by the NBA for repeatedly making an “obscene gesture” during the team’s recent game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The incident occurred in the third quarter of the game on Sunday when the 29-year-old Cameroonian made an impressive two-point basket and was fouled by Malcom Brogdon. Although Embiid successfully made the basket, he subsequently missed the free throw. Nevertheless, the 76ers secured a decisive victory, defeating the Trail Blazers 126-98 at the Wells Fargo Center.
Embiid, a six-time NBA All-Star, had a stellar performance in the game, showcasing his dominance on the court. He achieved game highs in both points, with 35, and rebounds, grabbing 15 boards. This outstanding performance played a pivotal role in the 76ers’ second win of the season, propelling them to a strong position in the Eastern Conference, where they currently hold the second spot.
