Alex Awaits His Call
Racing has been a long time American sport that just doesn’t seem to get enough credit anymore as it gets overshadowed by other popular sports like baseball, basketball and football. However, there was a historic race, the Indy 500, that took place not too long ago. It wasn’t just historic because it’s the Indy 500, but historic because it was the events 100th run!
Alexander Rossi was the winner of the event and wrote his name in the history books winning the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 and taking his first Verizon IndyCar Series win in style. Starting from the 11th position on the grid, the American won the race in front of a sold-out audience and became the first rookie to win the prestigious event in 15 years. So it’s safe to say this race was a big deal.
Alex brought the Borg-Warner trophy to the Empire State Building to meet with the press following the event and he was asked one specific question that seemed to ruffle his feathers..”Hey Alex, have you received a call from the president yet?”

Now if you know a thing or two about sports you know that President Obama calls all the winners from major games and invites them to the White House for a little ceremony where they are treated like royalty. However, Alex is still awaiting his call from President Obama and he’s pretty hurt about it. Looks like the sport of racing was left in the dust once again.
