What Really Happened
Two athletes from Guinea did not return home after the 2016 Rio Olympics. According to the Associated Press swimmer Amadou Camara and judo competitor Mamadama Bangoura did come back to Guinea following the games. Be we think we know why.
Camara allegedly disappeared two days before the team was scheduled to leave Rio. Bangoura left a message saying that she was staying and that she was going to try her luck abroad in a developed country and nobody has heard from her since.
At the London 2012 Olympics 12 people did not return home to their countries for the same reason including 3 from Guinea.
