The Latest In Artificial Technology
A revolutionary technology recently released is something called Electronic Skin or e-skin. According to digitaltrend.com, it is, “malleable electronic skin enabled by dynamic covalent thermoset nanocomposite.” This technology is revolutionary because prosthetics, electronics, and smart textiles will be able to reassemble when they accidently break apart.
It is especially advantageous because scientists hope it will reduce the electronic waste we produce because electronics will fix themselves. If damaged, the skin will dissolve when dipped into a recycling solution, which can then be turned into new e-skin. The goal is the mimic the functionality of actual, human skin, which can sense pressure and temperature, stretch, and can heal itself. It has many potential uses including monitoring your health, it could be worn as an electronic tattoo or in the future generate a television picture on your hand.

The e-skin can measure vital signs like your heartbeat and display them in real time on a skin display. If something is wrong, an LED display would light up on your skin to alert others of the issue that is occurring. In addition to covering prosthetic devices, such as artificial limbs and robots to make them more lifelike, the e-skin may eventually be able to replace the covering on electronic equipment and devices, such as our smart phones. This will allow the devices to be more interactive, able to repair themselves, and be more pleasing to the touch.
