On Thursday the Financial Times broke the news that premium headphone maker Beats Electronics (sometimes known as “Beats By Dre”) was finalizing a deal to sell to Apple for a reported $3.2 billion.
Apple has long been criticized for its poor earphones and Beats could fix that immediately.
Rival HTC’s M8 is touted as the first music phone ever to use Harman sound, so Apple may want to add Beats to its own iPhone in order to stay competitive.
The purchase would help shore up Apple’s share of the music subscription service industry, thanks to Beats Music.
Dr. Dre Celebrates
Ain’t nothin’ like a billionaire thing, baaaby … just ask Dr. Dre who celebrated his massive headphones deal with Apple last night by poppin’ bottles and declaring himself the richest man in hip hop!
After word broke that Apple was close to finalizing a deal to buy Beats for $3.2 billion, Dre went to the studio with Tyrese, movie director Gary Gary and some friends and got turnt all the way up with lots of champagne, Heineken and Hennessy.
