No Purchase Necessary
Starbucks is now open to all, no purchase necessary. This includes using their restrooms. Customer or non-customers are also now allowed to hang-out on the patio or in the stores itself. The change followed a racial-controversy that made national headlines. Two black men asked to use the restroom and were denied because they were not paying customers. When the pair sat down at a table and did not order anything, the manager called the police and the two were arrested for trespassing.
Starbucks is attempting to make amends by opening their doors to everyone along with closing 8,000 of their stores to provide their employees with racial-bias training. The only thing the new policy asks of it’s customers is to follow a code of conduct. It says the restaurant’s space should be used as intended, to be considerate of others and to act responsibly.
