Get Ready For The Weekend With A Sports Review
Just when you thought the football season was over, a new one begins.
No, it’s not the NFL. And no, the history of spring football is not full of success stories, but here we go again … with help from the NFL.
The eight-team Alliance of American Football, featuring a number of still-hopeful NFLers such as Christian Hackenberg and Zach Mettenberger, kicks off its inaugural season on Saturday night. CBS will be showing a pair of games (check local listings) at 8 p.m. ET. Longtime NFL personnel wizard Bill Polian is a driving force behind the AAF, which also features such coaches as Mike Martz.
On Saturday, you’ll see either the Atlanta Legends at Orlando Apollos or the San Diego Fleet at San Antonio Commanders. CBS Sports Network and the NFL Network have games at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively on Sunday.
Your heiner may already be in the recliner on Saturday, as you had earlier settled in to take in round three of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at 3 p.m. on CBS. Don’t move and you will be perfectly positioned for Sunday’s final round, same time and TV coordinates.
College basketball gives us a matchup of ranked teams at noon on Saturday as Big Ten rivals Wisconsin (No. 19) and No. 7 Michigan go at it on FOX. No. 14 Villanova at No. 10 Marquette follows on the same network at 2:30 p.m. Sunday brings us No. 25 Cincinnati at No. 12 Houston at 4 p.m. on ESPN.
In the NBA, the struggling Los Angeles Lakers of LeBron James visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. ABC shows this at 3:30 p.m.
