A Sports Filled Weekend
Chile won the Copa America Centario on Sunday night, downing Argentina 4-2 on penalty kicks after the sides played a scoreless draw through regulation time in East Rutherford, N.J.
It is a particularly bitter defeat for Argentina, which lost a major final for the third consecutive year. Chile becomes the tournament’s first back-to-back winner since (you guessed it) Argentina in 1946-47.
The United States, which focused on making the final four, accomplished the and nothing more. The U.S. finished fourth after losing 1-0 to Colombia on Saturday night.
