‘The Wiz’ Will Be NBC’s Next Live Musical Event
Time to ‘Ease on Down the Road’ – NBC recently revealed their live musical event this year will be none other than the classic story of The Wiz. The network has gained much respect and success from their previous musical events – The Sound of Music and Peter Pan – so it was no surprise when they decided to continue the tradition this winter.
By the sounds of it, this upcoming production is going to be the biggest one yet. NBC announced that recent Academy Award producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are taking the reins for the musical and have partnered up with the spectacle show Cirque du Soleil.
They have full confidence that the Cirque du Soleil acrobats will bring a new dimension to the show, fully bringing alive the wonder and imagination of the land of Oz. No casting decisions have been made yet, but if NBC could grab big stars like Carrie Underwood and Christopher Walken for their previous shows I’m sure we can expect another big name to join the cast of The Wiz.
Who would you like to take on the role of Dorothy? *cough* Beyonce *cough cough* – anyone else?
