$100 million in advance ticket sales, the most tickets ever sold on Fandango, and #1 in 12 foreign territories was simply not enough for the greatly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

No, the movie is out to take another record, obliterating the very well loved Harry Potter out of the waters. The four-and-a-half year record for a preview night opening, held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at $43.5 million, underestimated the power of the dark side.
