The Kansas City Royals have done whatever they have needed to do to succeed in the postseason, sometimes with a minimalist bent. And that’s how they evened the World Series at a game apiece on Wednesday night.
Their 7-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants sends the October Classic to the West Coast all even. And yet the Royals have basically hit in one inning of two games.
They scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning in Game 2 to break open a 2-2 tie. They got five of their 10 hits in that inning.
“We felt like with our big sixth inning there, we took a little bit of momentum out of them,” said designated hitter Billy Butler, whose RBI single in the sixth put the Royals ahead.
The game began ominously for the Royals. G Blanco, the leadoff hitter, drilled a 395-foot home run to give the Giants a 1-0 lead and bring back memories of the way the Royals fell behind in the first inning the night before. Butler’s RBI single in the bottom of the first, however, got them back on even footing.
In the sixth, the Royals made their move and put themselves back in contention.
Today’s question
Well, it’s even. Who do you like the rest of the way?
