Cigarettes Are On Their Way Out
The smoking epidemic in the U.S. is slowly but surely declining and we are now at an all time low. In 2016, around 16 percent of U.S. adults were smokers, the following year it was 14 percent. While this is good progress, there are still 30 million U.S. adults that categorize themselves as smokers. Don’t get discouraged though. In the early 1960’s, a whopping 42 percent of American adults were smoking. We have already come a long way! Another new low was discovered in high school students. Only nine percent of high school students reported to smoking cigarettes.
All of these new lows are triggered simply by knowledge. Young people are taught that smoking causes heart disease, cancer, and many other health issues. Some children may have even seen a loved one suffer from the side effects of smoking. Anti-smoking campaigns and even the warning label on cigarettes are pushing teens and adults away.
E-cigarettes being introduced was also helpful for people trying to quit smoking. While e-cigarettes are not the best answer, it is better than cigarettes.
Stay away from the cancer sticks people!
