We Will Never Forget
Today marks the anniversary of one of the most tragic days in the history of the United States; it is a day America will never forget. Today hundreds of Americans went to work, hugged their families, and said goodbye in 2001 for the last time.
Many can remember the exact moment and where they were when the tragedy occurred. Some of us even know family or friends who were lost on this day. As New York City and all of America went into lockdown the fear of not knowing what was going on at the time haunted many.
But today as we look back we thank those who sacrificed their lives and the first responders who truly are the heroes. U.S. President Barack Obama marked the 9/11 anniversary by leading a moment of silence at the White House Friday morning. He and the first lady Michelle Obama walked onto the South Lawn to mark a moment of silence at 8:46 am, the exact moment a hijacked pane crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. White House staff was also gathered on the South Lawn for the moment of silence and today the flag will remain at half-staff.
Although it was a day of distress, we remember and will never forget all those involved. America truly is the land of the free because of the brave.
