Pelosi Questions President Trump’s Decision-Making
The feud between President Trump and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is escalating, with Pelosi declaring that Trump “doesn’t know right from wrong.” Pelosi made the comments at a weekly press conference she holds on Thursday mornings, saying she was specifically responding to Trump’s statement that he would have no problem accepting help from “foreign actors” during the upcoming election.
“Everybody in the country should be totally appalled by what the president said last night,” Pelosi said. “Totally appalled. But he has a habit of making appalling statements. Not anyone issue is going to trigger, ‘Oh now, we’ll go to this,’ because it’s about investigating, it’s about litigating.”
Trump told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News there was “nothing wrong” with listening to information on an opponent provided by a foreign source. When asked if he would call the FBI, Trump said he might “do both.”
“I think maybe you do both,” Trump said. “I think you might want to listen. There’s nothing wrong with listening. If somebody called from a country, Norway, [and said,] ‘We have information on your opponent’ — Oh, I think I’d want to hear it. I don’t think in my whole life I’ve ever called the FBI.”
Pelosi has previously stated that she’d like to see Trump “behind bars” rather than impeached. Trump responded by calling Pelosi “a horrible person.”
