It’s been more than one week since a Malaysia airliner jet went missing and still the authorities are no closer to understanding why the aircraft flew hundreds of miles off course.
The search is now scouring a vast area, from central Asia to the southern Indian Ocean. Satellite data picked up from Flight 370 was not released until days after the aircraft went missing.
The shift comes after tracking data revealed that flight 370 was diverted by someone who knew how to switch off its communication system.
The crew aboard the USS Kidd scan the ocean for debris from Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
The U.S. Navy is also using two MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopters to search the vast expanse of the potential crash site.
So far, the Navy says it is has not confirmed that any debris collected belongs to the missing passenger jet which vanished on March 8 with 239 people on board.
Chinese investigators are also set to help Malaysia’s government in the search for missing flight MH370.
