GM reveals the future of the auto industry
The highly-anticipated Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is displaying the future of technology and one automaker is gaining a lot of attention for the GM Exhibit Zero. The new exhibit will spotlight GM’s commitment to a sustainable future for the automaker.
GM is committing to a sustainable future for the auto industry starting with the Ultium Battery Platform with energy options ranging from 50 to 200 kWh. The new Ultium batteries will contain the lowest cobalt and highest nickel content in a large-format pouch cell requiring less plumbing and wiring than the small cylindrical ones.

The platform of future GM vehicles will have an updated platform to better house the large pouch-style cells that can be stacked horizontally or vertically inside the battery pack. The engineers created a platform to optimize battery energy layout and storage for all EV model sizes.
GM will also be focusing on improving the driving capabilities with five interchangeable drive units as well as three electric motors. The automaker will also be offerings single-speed transmissions with drive propulsion combinations including front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive all built for high performance with off-roading capabilities.

GMC is utilizing these new innovations in tech for upcoming car models including the first electric supertruck Hummer EV Edition 1 with the estimated first round of production released by Fall 2021. The first EV Hummer produces no emissions with the power of 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque.
GMC will also be offering a new Cadillac Lyriq EV sedan with an engine that has more than 300 miles of range with fast charging battery rates of over 150 kW. The new Cadillac Lyriq will also be offering the updated Super Cruise that is the industry’s first hands-free driver assistance that can be used on compatible roads.
GM also revealed a new concept for the Cadillac Personal Autonomous Vehicle for a luxury experience with autonomous electric vehicle mobility for passengers and drivers. The new autonomous vehicle is best described as a mobile living room for an enhanced passenger experience with maximum comfort.
The new Cadillac autonomous vehicle features an AI-controlled biometric-based user interface for passengers including customizable cabin features that can be controlled by gesture or voice control. The special cabin features include controls for lighting, air humidity, and scent.

Another Cadillac concept debuted is the Cadillac Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) drone that is a concept of personal air travel of the future contributing zero congestion. The unique Cadillac concept is a single-seat VOTL personal drone that can travel up to 90 kilometers per hour and was built to be transported from rooftop to rooftop with the vehicle’s light weight.
