Our Digital Fingerprint
Do you want to delete yourself from Google? This is what you need to know. Each time we connect to the Internet, we leave a digital fingerprint. Search engines like Google collect your data whether you know it or not and it’s not illegal. Once signed into your account, Google starts to watch what you do. It tracks what you’re searching for, how you are searching, your search patterns, ads that interest you, things you click on, images you view, and videos you watch.
This may seem like an invasion of privacy but you actually agreed to this. In order to create a Google account, you must agree to its Terms of Service. Data tracking is outlined in Google’s privacy policy. Simply don’t use Google. Use other search engines that don’t track your data, but if you are determined to use Google, don’t sign in. Be sure to check your setting to ensure you’re sharing what you want with Google. The EU is making the right to be invisible a law. The EU General Data Protection Regulation is set to enforce new regulations. These regulations give EU citizens the power to delete themselves from the Internet. Companies that don’t comply with these new rules will face heavy fines. These new regulations are set to be enforced on May 25, 2018.
