Top Misspellings According By State
Every state in America has their own state bird and state flower, their own flag, and their own landmarks and special cuisine. Apparently, each state makes the same consistent spelling mistakes as well. Google has compiled a list of the most commonly misspelled words of 2018 by state. According to People, the list is “based on the top searches related to “how to spell” over the last year.”
“Résumé” was a popularly misspelled world on Google’s list. It was the most commonly searched word in three states. That’s not totally unexpected, I mean, those accent marks can be tricky. However, you’re going to want to do a thorough spellcheck before sending out that résumé.
Six states double checked themselves when spelling “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” the Mary Poppins hit song title.
The number one misspelled word, the top search in eleven different states, is the word “beautiful.” Cnet.com points out, “It’s kind of sweet so many states are looking up the word ‘beautiful.’ Here’s hoping their residents are dishing out some delightful compliments.”
