Natural News Has Been Suspended By Facebook
The Web site Natural News has been suspended by Facebook for spreading conspiracy theories and medical misinformation. Natural News promotes the debunked theory that vaccines cause autism–but once instructed readers on how to inject themselves with a homeopathic remedy to prevent Ebola.
Natural News has already been banned by YouTube and Twitter and is blacklisted from appearing in Google search results. Natural News had more than 3 million followers on Facebook, but now the site’s founder, Mike Adams, says he’s permanently banned from posting on the social media platform.
Adams called the ban “online ethnic cleansing” by “techno-fascists.”
“The techno-fascists, including Wikipedia, have decided that no speech that questions any official narrative will be allowed on any platform,” Adams wrote on Natural News. “Anyone who questions the safety of toxic vaccines, 5G cell towers, geoengineering, chemotherapy or glyphosate weed killer chemicals is now maliciously attacked, smeared and de-platformed.”
But Facebook defended the ban, saying it has a history of banning individuals and groups that promote hate, conspiracy theories, and smear campaigns. Facebook has banned “alt-right” figures like Milo Yiannopoulos and Alex Jones, as well as Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
Facebook did not comment on Natural News’ suspension. However, a Facebook spokesperson said in May that it will continue to remove accounts that violate community standards, regardless of political ideology.
