The meteor shower will occur over 10 nights
April will bring more than spring showers with a historic Lyrid meteor shower that is known for its brightness and speed for an amazing intergalactic nighttime spectacle. Lyrid meteors leave behind glowing dust trails that are visible for minutes at a time and can produce five to 20 meteors per hour.
Brighter meteors are known as Lyrid “fireballs” can cast shadows for a split second with a smoky debris trail. The Lyrid meteor shower will be visible from April 16 to April 25 that will pick up more activity on April 19 with peak visibility by April 22 in the Northern Hemisphere.
Set your clocks for moonset! The Lyrid meteor shower is almost here. 💫 https://t.co/DobQUiZZ1W

Spectators can catch the meteor shower during peak brightness between moonset and dawn with visibility beginning at Lyra’s rising time around 9 to 10 p.m. but light pollution can affect visibility. The best place to view the meteor shower is in a dark countryside location that is far away from the overwhelming lights of the city.
