U.S. President Barack Obama, actor Jamie Foxx and singer and designer Victoria Beckham are among the many celebrities expressing their sorrow after hearing the news of the death of Nelson Mandela.

Celebrities and politicians took to Twitter to express their grief after learning of the death of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Piers Morgan said, “BREAKING NEWS: Nelson Mandela has died, aged 95. One of the great men of history. RIP.”

Tyra Banks tweeted, “@NelsonMandela, 95 powerful years on this earth yet freedom for INFINITY because of you. You are an angel that will live forever.”

President Obama says that Nelson Mandela’s journey from a prisoner to President embodied the promise that human beings, and countries, can change for the better, and asks that we pause and give thanks for the fact that Mandela lived — a man who took history in his hands, and bent the arc of the moral universe toward justice.
