Camila says people should be free to date who they want

Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, Camila Morrone, is twenty-three years younger than her beau. However, Morrone says the age gap doesn’t bother her – although she understands why people are curious.

“I probably would be curious about it, too,” Morrone said. But, she added, “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood–and in the history of the world–where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”

Morrone is twenty-two years old, while DiCaprio is forty-five.

In July, Morrone posted a photo of Hollywood legends Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall to Instagram, captioning it, “A love like this.” Bogart and Bacall were twenty-five years apart in age. She denied it was a statement about the age gap between her and DiCaprio.

However, Morrone has expressed frustration that people mostly know her name because of her association with Leonardo, instead of regarding her for her acting talent. Morrone, who was praised by critics for her role in the indie film Mickey and the Bear, said she’s trying to make a name for herself outside of her romantic relationship.

“I think more and more now that people are seeing the film, I’m slowly getting an identity outside of that,” Morrone said. “Which is frustrating, because I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating.”
