One of the main characters in this episode is Andy Weir. Andy who is super unique is a wonderful novel writer and even a software engineer. Andy has a huge passion for research in space travel especially to Mars.

Space travel to Mars has always been something that has been on his mind and he hopes to make a reality one day. It has been said that the trip would take place by 2035 but Andy simply thinks that they can do it but Congress just won’t give them the money that they need to make the trip a go. Andy also thinks the first mission to Mars won’t just be like the Apollo program and it won’t be like it’s depicted in his book. He thinks it will be more of an international effort in hope that we will start cooperating with China making it a global mission to Mars.

A wise man names Arthur C. Clarke once said, “two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” But when Andy was asked if we are alone and if Mars has live he simply answered by saying we are alone and Mars should be completely sterile not having live now or ever and the only life would be bacteria that hitched a ride on earth probes.

The reason why he believes this is because life is extremely tenacious and prevalent. And if there were life on a planet and a few billion years for it to evolve it would get everywhere.
