Watch out for Ariana
Ariana Grande is taking shots at the “friends with benefits” phenomenon that is popular among young people. She just dropped a new video for the song “Boyfriend,” featuring musical duo Social House. In the video, Grande expresses frustration that the guy she’s seeing, played by Social House’s Mikey Foster, won’t call her his girlfriend. But he also doesn’t want her to see other guys.
“You ain’t my boyfriend (boyfriend) / And I ain’t your girlfriend (girlfriend) / But you don’t want me to see nobody else / And I don’t want you to see nobody,” Grande sings on the track. In the video, Grande starts dancing with another man–and let’s just say it doesn’t go over well with Foster’s character.
“When Ariana decides to give Mikey a taste of his own medicine and finds a cute guy to dance with, Foster tears the unsuspecting dude’s heart right out of his chest! He then offers it to Grande as a gift,” TooFab.com reports. “The video takes a weird turn when her response to the offering of the man’s organ is to shoot heart-shaped lasers out of her boobs, but we’re not mad at it…By the end of the video, the couple realizes they need each other and head to the bathroom for a steamy make-out sesh, destroying everything in sight.”
Grande said many young people, who want to find love but struggle with commitment, will be able to relate to the video.
