If you think it’s cold up North, wait until you find out just how cold it gets in Antarctica!
Data from a NASA satellite reveals temperatures in east Antarctica plunged below 135.8 degrees Fahrenheit, a new record.
Researchers poured though 32 years worth of data from various NASA satellites and found that the temperatures dropped near two summits on the ice sheet known as the East Antarctic Plateau.
Scientists say that the record breaking temperatures could have been caused when a wind pattern tried to moved back uphill, thus allowing the air in low spaces to stay longer a get colder.
