Angelina goes from actress from editor

Angelina Jolie is joining “Time” Magazine as a contributing editor, according to Edward Felsenthal, the magazine’s CEO. The actress will write an article every month, with a special focus on refugee issues and human rights.

Jolie wrote her first piece for the magazine on World Refugee Day, in an essay titled “What We Owe Refugees.”

“Everyone deserves dignity and fair treatment, but we need to be clear about the distinction. Under international law it is not an option to assist refugees, it is an obligation. It is perfectly possible to ensure strong border control and fair, humane immigration policies while meeting our responsibility to help refugees,” Jolie wrote.

Jolie has adopted three children from troubled countries, including Vietnam, Cambodia, and Ethiopia. In 2001, she became a United Nations Ambassador. In 2012, she became a Special Envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She has traveled around the world on goodwill missions for the United Nations, visiting more than 60 countries in the last two decades.

In the meantime, Jolie is also keeping her day job. She’ll be returning to the silver screen in October as Maleficent, the dark queen, in the Disney movie “Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil.” Jolie plays the villain from the classic Disney film “Sleeping Beauty.”
