NFL FREE-AGENT FRENZY!

The first day of free agency in the NFL had nearly everything. There were unfathomable trades, signings, and retirements. There was not, however, announcement of the expected signing by the Miami Dolphins of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a six-year contract worth $114 million, with $60 million guaranteed. That should still happen, however.

The Rams trade Sam Bradford to the Eagles for Nick Foles.

Among the stunners: The St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles exchanged starting quarterbacks. Sam Bradford, once the top pick in the NFL draft, goes to the Eagles for Nick Foles.

The Eagles have now dumped their quarterback, their running back (LeSean McCoy) and their best receiver (Jeremy Maclin). … Honorable mention goes to the Seattle Seahawks, who acquired otherworldly tight end Jimmy Graham from the New Orleans Saints for center Max Unger. There were also draft choices changing hands.

Coming and going: Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker retired. The oft-injured 26-year-old said he had lost his passion for the game. Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jason Worilds, who just turned 27, also retired after five seasons. … Former New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis left the New England Patriots to go back to the Jets.

The Jets, having traded with the Chicago Bears for receiver Brandon Marshall, cut receiver Percy Harvin. … Former San Francisco 49ers running back signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Receiver Torrey Smith left the Baltimore Ravens for the 49ers. … Running back Roy Helu Jr. joined the Oakland Raiders, leaving the Washington Redskins.

Makes you wonder what’s ahead on Day Two, doesn’t it? Stay tuned.
