There are some pretty interesting stories we get to hear during these interviews on the red carpet. One would think the best part of the Academy Awards Show is watching the actors, actresses and other talent win and accept the award. But, as this video series shows us, some to the most interesting stories are simply about our favorites celebrity’s lives off of the red carpet.

One heart warming story involves Gary Oldman and his wife, Gisele Schmidt. Apparently, the winner of Best Actor for his role in Darkest Hour proposed to his now wife, while in character! Gisele was essentially proposed to by the late Winston Churchill…well, an Oscar-winning portrayal of him, that is. Both Oldman and Schmidt laughed about the proposal, as Oldman had to quickly get back on-set right after she said yes! That’s dedication to a role, and definitely Oscar-worthy!

Another heart-warming story comes from actor Mahershala Ali, who also won an Oscar Sunday night, as Best Supporting Actor in the film Moonlight. Ali not only took home the gold, but also took home a baby girl just a couple days prior. Ali says his new baby really “grounded” him. Who knew the red carpet was full of so many sweet stories that we never could have guessed!
