Vivek Ramaswamy Unveils Bold Reform Agenda for 2024 Elections
Indian American entrepreneur and Republican presidential aspirant Vivek Ramaswamy has unveiled a transformative reform agenda ahead of the 2024 elections, promising significant changes to the federal government if elected as President of the United States.
Ramaswamy, a self-made millionaire and Yale law graduate, aims to revolutionize the federal bureaucracy by proposing a downsizing plan that would affect over 75 percent of the federal workforce. He has outlined his intention to shutter several major government agencies, including the Department of Education, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Commerce Department.
In an interview with Axios, Ramaswamy stated, “We would start on day one, and we want a 50 percent reduction by the end of year one.” He noted that a significant portion of federal employees are eligible for retirement in the next five years, contributing to the feasibility of his proposal.
This bold reform agenda is part of Ramaswamy’s broader vision for a streamlined government focused on reducing waste and bureaucracy. While some may view these proposals as audacious, they reflect the competitive nature of primary elections, where candidates strive to distinguish themselves in a crowded field and align with their party’s core values.

Ramaswamy’s campaign has drawn attention for its provocative ideas, including stopping funding for the Ukraine war effort, questioning climate change, and advocating for raising the voting age to 25 from 18. While he faces tough competition in the 2024 Republican primaries, his energetic and knowledgeable approach has resonated with supporters who seek significant reforms in the U.S. government.
As he strives to narrow the gap with front-runner Donald Trump, Ramaswamy emphasized that he is not running for second place or seeking a position on the Republican ticket with Trump. He intends to carry forward the legacy of “taking on the administrative state” where the former president left off.
Supporters and political observers have taken notice of Ramaswamy’s ideas and his commitment to reforming the government. Manisha Singh, a former assistant secretary of state for business and economic affairs under Trump, commended Ramaswamy’s clarity and seriousness about making substantial changes.
With the 2024 presidential elections on the horizon, Vivek Ramaswamy’s platform promises a compelling alternative vision for America, and his audacious proposals are sparking conversations among voters and political enthusiasts across the nation.
