Meet Nikhil Arora the Co-Founder & CO-CEO of Back To The Roots! He was born in California, but was the son of two immigrants from India. He grew up with home cooked meals and a family history of astonishing recipes, but he never really knew how deep his roots went and where his food was coming from. And that’s why he created Back To The Roots, which is helping reconnect families and inspiring that curiosity again…the curiosity that our families had.

Meet Alejandro “Alex” Velez, who is also the Co-Founder & CO-CEO of Back To The Roots. Believe it or not Nikhil and Alejandro attended Berkeley together, but didn’t meet until just a few months before graduation in a Business Ethics class. They had heard this random fact that you can maybe grow mushrooms on coffee waste, but nobody has ever done it before…challenge excepted!

They literally went out got some local mushrooms, coffee grounds for local cafes, planted these 10 buckets, and it worked. They still have a long way to go, but so does Oakland were they are based…for more details be sure to check out the video above!
